Flores initially focused the interrogation on the .25 caliber handgun that was stolen from her grandparents' home days before the slaying of Travis Alexander. "We're just playing games here ... That gun was in your possession ... What did you do with the gun?" Flores asked, after Arias expressed shock that Alexander had been shot with a .25 caliber automatic handgun. "I don't have a gun ... I've never seen it ... I don't even know what a .25 looks like," Arias said on the video. Arias denied killing Alexander and said, "If I was going to ever try to kill somebody, I would use gloves. I have plenty of them."

Arias reported that the two were having fun playing with his new camera when things took a sudden turn. "I heard a really loud pop. And the next thing I remember, I was lying next to the bathtub and Travis was screaming," Arias told "48 Hours." "At that point, I sort of was just trying to come around and kind of orientate myself to what was going on," she continued. "And I looked up and I just -- I saw two other individuals in the bathroom. And they were both coming toward us." The intruders, whom she described as a man and a woman dressed in black, were armed with a knife and a gun. At one point, she said, the man pointed the gun at her, but she was miraculously spared. "He pulled the trigger. And nothing happened with the gun. And so I just grabbed my purse, which was on the floor at that point, and I ran down the stairs and out of there and I left [Travis] there ... I pushed past him and -- and his gun. And I just didn't look back." Arias said that she kept driving and never called the police. "It was -- I was terrified. And I was scared for my life. And I think there was a naive belief that I could pretend like it didn't really happen," Arias said.

Stephens granted the request but had Arias' public defenders, Victoria Washington and Kirk Nurmi, remain on as advisory counsel. August 16, 2011 ? A request to admit letters that Arias claimed Alexander sent her prior to his death was denied. In the letters, Alexander allegedly admitted to being a pedophile. Prosecutor Juan Martinez told the court that the letters were tested and found to be forgeries. After the ruling, Arias told Judge Stephens that she was "over her head." The judge then reinstated her defense counsel.

Arias' third story about Alexander's death was detailed in court documents as part of the request that she made to admit electronic copies of Alexander's alleged letters. "Defendant had previously attributed the crime to intruders. She now argues that all of the letters must be admitted to support her domestic violence defense," prosecutors wrote in a motion to preclude the letters. "Defendant argues that the letters are relevant to her claim of self-defense and that she was a victim of previous 'sexual and physical abuse' by Mr. Alexander." Arias, according to prosecutors, claimed that Alexander "became angry when she dropped his camera" and that she was forced to kill him in self-defense.

"She was not under oath when she spoke on TV and yes, she lied," Angela Arias wrote on Facebook after The Huffington Post sent her a request for comment. "But, it was because she was so in love with that man she did not want people to know what a monster he really was. She wanted everyone to believe that he was as amazing as they thought he was ... My sister is innocent of the crime they are accusing her of ... She did kill Travis but it was not in cold blood, it was not for revenge, it was because she was afraid for her life."

January 2, 2013 - Opening arguments began in Arias' trial. Maricopa County Prosecutor Juan Martinez cited the various stories that Arias had told law enforcement before she finally settled on a self-defense motive. Martinez described Alexander's murder as violent and said there were three different ways Alexander could have received a death blow: He was shot, he was stabbed in the heart, and his throat was slit from ear to ear. Alexander also had defensive wounds on his hands, according to Martinez. In wrapping up his opening argument, Martinez played part of a media interview conducted after Arias' arrest, in which she said, "Mark my words, no jury will convict me." Martinez asked the jury to mark Arias' words and concluded his opening statement. During the defense team's opening argument, lawyer Jennifer Willmott acknowledged that Arias had killed Alexander, but said that the key questions is what motivated her to do it. Willmott alleged Alexander had pressured Arias into having vaginal, anal and oral sex with him. Willmott also said she planned to call to the stand an expert who would testify about how Arias' relationship with Alexander fit the mold of domestic violence. Willmott concluded her opening argument by saying that Alexander had become enraged when Arias dropped his camera and that she had had to defend herself or she would not be alive today.

January 3, 2013 ? At the start of day two of Arias' murder trial, the prosecution called Esteban Flores, a Mesa homicide detective to the stand. Flores had investigated the crime scene and mentioned a phone call he had with Arias on June 10, 2008. The prosecution then played an audio recording of the conversation in court. During the recorded call, Arias described herself as a good friend of Alexander's and said she wanted to help police in any way that she could. She told Flores she had heard that Alexander had passed away and that there was a lot of blood at the crime scene. She asked what type of weapon was used or recovered at the scene, but Flores told her he was unable to discuss that information with her. Asked about her relationship with Alexander, Arias said that they had not dated long. "We dated for like five months, and we broke up and actually did not see each other for quite a bit," Arias said. "[We] tried to remain friends, more like buddies. We were intimate but I would not say romantic as far as a relationship goes." In regard to the couple's breakup, Arias said she had a suspicion Alexander was cheating on her. She said she could not trust him and claimed he would get "upset real easily." During the phone interview, Flores told Arias that Alexander's friends had alleged that she had hacked into Alexander's email. Arias denied the allegation. "People felt you were taking advantage of him or hanging out when you weren't wanted," Flores said. Arias dismissed the opinion of Alexander's friends and said she felt they talked about her because she was an ex-girlfriend. "We need to know who had some type of beef with him or why they would want to do this to him. It was an angry situation. Somebody went in there to hurt him, and they did ?- hurt him really bad," Flores said at one point in the recording. Arias said Alexander was quite strong and she could not understand how anyone could overpower him. She also said she was concerned because "he never locked his doors." When the recording ended in the courtroom, Martinez turned the witness over to defense attorney Kirk Nurmi for cross-examination.

Nurmi asked Flores if he had ever seen a picture of a French maid outfit that Alexander allegedly wanted Arias to wear when she would clean his home. Flores testified that Arias told him she had cleaned Alexander's house, but said he had never seen a picture of the French maid outfit. The defense attorney then questioned Flores about emails Alexander allegedly sent to Arias. Nurmi asked Flores if Alexander had called Arias names in the emails, like "slut" and "whore." Martinez objected, citing hearsay and speculation, but Judge Stephens allowed the question. Flores then confirmed that Alexander had sent messages to Arias calling her those names. After a short recess, Flores read from a Facebook message that he said Alexander sent to Arias. "I was nothing more than a dildo with a heartbeat for you," the message read.

Later, a fingerprint examiner with the Mesa police, Heather Connor, took the stand and unveiled evidence found at the crime scene. Forensic teams took a total of three days to complete processing the scene at Alexander's house and found evidence in his washing machine, Connor said. The contents included clothing and a broken digital camera, which contained a SIM card. The clothing items, as well as a towel, appeared to have bleach stains, she said. Shortly afterward, court was recessed until January 8.

January 8, 2013 ? Connor, the Mesa Police Department fingerprint examiner, continued her testimony on day three. Connor took the court through photos of Alexander's hallway, master bedroom and bathroom. The jury was also shown a photo of a bloody handprint on a wall. Prosecutors said the handprint contained a mixture of Alexander's and Arias' DNA. When Connor finished her testimony, the prosecution called Dr. Kevin Horn, of the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's office, to the stand.

Dr. Kevin Horn described how Alexander was stabbed 27 times, shot in the right brow with a .25-caliber gun, and nearly decapitated when his throat, voice box and arteries were cut. As Horn spoke, jurors looked at photos of the dead man, whose body, Horn said, was decomposing and starting to mummify by the time it was found. According to Horn, Alexander's stab wounds were very deep and inflicted with major force. It was, Horn testified, impossible to determine if Alexander was dead before he was shot due to the amount of decomposition. The cause of death was excessive blood loss from the victim's body, he said, and Alexander had multiple self-defense wounds to his palms and fingers.

Elizabeth Northcutt, a forensic firearms examiner with the Mesa police, was called to the stand next. Northcutt testified that she had examined a cartridge casing found at the crime scene and identified it as a Winchester .25-caliber casing. She said she also examined the bullet removed from Alexander's cheek. During cross-examination, Northcutt said she was not able to match the casing or the bullet to a specific gun because no weapon has been recovered. Shortly afterward, court was recessed for the evening.

January 9, 2013 ? Ryan Burns, a once-budding love interest of Arias' and her co-worker at PrePaid Legal Services, was called to the stand by prosecutors on day four of the trial. Burns testified he had a heated make-out session with Arias just a day after Alexander was murdered. "We were talking and we kissed ... Every time we started kissing, it got a little more escalated," Burns said. He said that the couple never removed their clothes during the encounter and that he "never touched her breasts or anything." Burns testified that he first met Arias at a PrePaid Legal convention in Oklahoma in April 2008. A few weeks after that initial meeting, Burns and Arias were chatting on the phone three to five times a week. Toward the end of May 2008, he and Arias had made plans for her to visit his home in West Jordan, Utah, Burns testified.

According to Burns, Arias was several hours late arriving at his home on June 5, 2008. She told him that she had gotten lost and had stopped to rest. Arias had apparently dyed hair since the last time he had met with her and had cuts on her hands when she arrived, Burns said. "She had two small bandages on a couple of her fingers," he testified. Arias explained away the injuries by saying that while working at a Margaritaville restaurant, she had broken a glass and cut her finger, Burns said. The prosecution questioned Burns about Arias' strength. Burns said she was fit and had "close to a six-pack." "[She's] a lot stronger than she looks," Burns testified.

Police detective Esteban Flores was also called back to the stand during day four. A recording of a June 25, 2008, phone interview he conducted with Arias was played for the court. During the interview, Arias told Flores she was afraid of guns. "That is one of the things I am scared of. [Guns and] public speaking," Arias said. "That was one of the things [Alexander] was trying to get me to do -- get out of my comfort zone." Arias' comments about guns arose during a discussion with Flores about the trip she took to visit Burns in Utah on June 5, 2008. Arias said she slept in her car during the lengthy drive from Yreka, Calif., to West Jordan, Utah. "I am not shy about sleeping in my car," Arias told the detective. Flores mentioned the practice could be dangerous and suggested she needed protection. "I was thinking of that," Aria said before detailing her fear of guns. But, she added, "Handguns are expensive [and] not in my price range." After discussing her thoughts on guns, Arias said she wanted to know if Alexander had cashed a check for $200 that she had given him for a car payment before he died. She said she had emailed his sister to ask about the check and to offer her condolences after she found out about Alexander's death. His sister had never replied, Arias told the detective. Court was adjourned for the day shortly after that excerpt of the audio recording was played.

Mendes testified that there is no restaurant called Margaritaville in Yreka -- a fact that suggested Arias had lied about her place of employment, which undermined her explanation of how she had injured her fingers around the time Alexander was murdered. Mendes also testified about receipts found in Arias' bedroom, which show that she had rented a car in Redding, Calif., on June 2, 2008, and returned it six days later, after she put 2,834 miles on the car.

• Key Dates In The Jodi Arias Case

Lisa Perry, a forensic scientist for Mesa police, was called to testify after Mendes. Perry said that over two days at the crime scene, she had collected blood evidence for DNA analysis. She spent a significant amount of time on the stand detailing the blood splatter and stains that were found throughout Alexander's apartment. She also testified that a .25-caliber bullet casing was lying in a pool of congealed blood, suggesting that the bullet inside the casing had been fired after the blood was on the floor.

Expanding your reach using video streaming to mobile devices ...

Using wowza to stream to mobile devices

A very powerful and yet underused marketing technique is video streaming to mobile devices. The reason why this marketing strategy will work really well right now is because nowadays just about everyone owns a high-end mobile device. The costs for streaming online have also been lowered since now there is a lot more competition in the streaming market. One of the best platforms for online media streaming is Wowza Media Server. Even though there are other platforms for media streaming, Wowza has very good support for mobile streaming, is reasonably priced and very user-friendly.

How could using video streaming to mobile devices help your marketing strategy? As a business owner, you need to spread your reach to as many potential customers as possible. Since nowadays most people own modern mobile devices, it only seems natural that you should expand your reach to mobile platforms as well. It is predicted that in the next few years there will be more people browsing the internet from their mobile phones rather than from their desktop computers.

Every respectable business should be looking to expand its reach to as many people as possible. After all, the more potential customers a business has, the more money they will have in thier pocket. With Wowza media server you are able to broadcast live and on-demand video content to even thousands of users simultaneously.?Even though there are other software programs able to stream to mobile devices, Wowza media server is probably your best bet.

Tunisia's Islamist Ennahda to pick hardliner for PM

TUNIS (Reuters) - Tunisia's main Islamist Ennahda party will pick a hardliner to replace moderate outgoing Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali after he declined to head the next government, a party official said on Thursday.

Jebali, who is secretary-general of Ennahda, resigned on Tuesday after his plan for an apolitical technocrat cabinet to prepare for elections collapsed, largely because of opposition from within his own party and its leader, Rached Ghannouchi.

"Jebali declined to accept nomination (for next prime minister)," Ennahda said. "A new candidate will be presented to the president of the republic this week."

The assassination of opposition leader Chokri Belaid on February 6 plunged Tunisia into its worst political crisis in the two years since a revolt toppled President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali and inspired Arabs elsewhere to rebel against autocratic rulers.

The secular leftist's killing sent protesters flooding into the streets, exposing the deep rifts between Tunisia's empowered Islamists and their liberal and secular-minded opponents.

Jebali had proposed forming technocrat cabinet to replace his Ennahda-led coalition, which included two secular parties, to spare the North African nation's nascent democracy and its struggling tourism-dependent economy from further strife.

But Ghannouchi blocked the moderate premier's plan and a senior Ennahda official told Reuters that the next prime minister would come from the party's hardline wing, which opposes any role for politicians linked with the Ben Ali era.

The official listed outgoing Justice Minister Nourredine Bouheiri, Health Minister Abdellatif Mekki, Agriculture Minister Mohammed Ben Salem, Interior Minister Ali Larayedh and Transport Minister Abdelkarim Harouni as the possible nominees.

"Ennahda will hold a meeting tonight to choose a candidate. The next prime minister will be one of the names on this list," said the official, who asked not to be named.

SECULAR PARTNER

Ennahda won Tunisia's first free election in October 2011 and controls 89 seats in the 217-member National Constituent Assembly assigned the task of drafting a new constitution.

Tunisian secular president, Moncef Marzouki, will ask the next prime minister to form his government within two weeks.

Ghannouchi has previously said it is vital that Islamists and secular parties share power now and in the future, and that his party was willing to compromise over control of important ministries such as foreign affairs, justice and interior.

Marzouki's secular Congress for the Republic party (CPR), which has 29 assembly seats and was part of Jebali's coalition, said on Thursday it was ready to join the next one.

"Our party will take part in the new government and will have an active role to play," the CPR's spokesman, Hedi Ben Abbes, said after a meeting with Marzouki.

Together, Ennahda and CPR would have 118 seats, wielding a majority in the assembly. It is not clear whether other secular parties would join such a coalition, particularly in the charged political atmosphere following Belaid's assassination.

Ennahda's own unity might also come under strain following the very public differences that have emerged between Ghannouchi and Jebali, who served as prime minister for 14 months.

Tunisia began a transition to democracy after Ben Ali's peaceful overthrow in January 2011, holding elections for the National Constituent Assembly and then forging a deal under which Ennahda agreed to share power with its secular rivals.

But disputes have delayed the constitution, and grievances over unemployment and poverty have led to frequent unrest.

"Today I cannot send a message of reassurance to investors abroad because local investors in Tunisia are not reassured and the outlook is not entirely clear," Wided Bouchamaoui, president of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, said on Wednesday.

Negotiations on a $1.78 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund cannot be concluded amid the latest uncertainty.

Standard and Poor's lowered its long-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit rating on Tunisia on Tuesday, citing "a risk that the political situation could deteriorate further amid a worsening fiscal, external and economic outlook".

Cooking Light Recipes: Quick and Healthy Menu Maker for iPhone and iPad review

It's Fitness Month here at iMore and Mobile Nations and part of getting in shape involves eating better which is why this week we're focusing on nutrition. When it comes to nutrition, the first step is to say goodbye fast food and eating out, and hello to healthy home-cooked meals. One such app to help you with this endeavor is Cooking Light Recipes: Quick and Healthy Menu Maker by Time Inc.

Cooking Light Recipes features more than 300 healthy chicken, beef, pork, fish, and vegetarian entrees, sides, and desserts. It includes gorgeous, mouth-watering photos making it easy to agree that a healthy choice is a smart choice.

The layout of Cooking Light focuses on the photos of dishes as each one takes up most of the screen. The bar at the top shows the name of the entree and what category it's from. If you tap on the category, a list will drop down with the other options. You can also simply swipe up on the photo to jump to the next category. Swiping left and right will advance between recipes in the category.

At the bottom of the screen, there are 4 different dishes to tap on: entree, two sides, and dessert. Tapping on one will change the category type in the upper left corner. All four of the dishes make up your menu. If you want to quickly have Cooking Light choose a menu for you, simple tap Suggested Menu on the photo. To the right of the menu, you'll find information about the menu including its calorie count and how much sodium and saturated fat there is.

To view a recipe, tap the See Recipe button on the photo. From here, you can see a list of ingredients as well as the directions for cooking it. On the iPad, all the information is displayed at once, and on the iPhone, you must navigate through tabs. Both approaches are perfect for each device.

Included with the recipes are how much time you must spend "hands-on" as well as how much total time is needed, including cooking time where you are not physically doing anything. You can also find the nutritional information for the dish.

Cooking Light is very well designed and includes great dishes and lots of information. What it doesn't include, however, is a shopping list. Sure, you can see a list of ingredients for each dish, but no one wants to have to jump between recipes while grocery shopping to see what they need. The inability to check items off a list is also annoying for shoppers. I was very disappointed when I learned that Cooking Light doesn't include an easy-to-create shopping list.

The good

• Gorgeous, mouth-watering photography
• Healthy choices
• Over 300 recipes
• Beef, lamb, fish, pasta, port, poultry, and vegetarian entrees
• Suggested menu for each entree that includes two sides and a dessert
• Mark recipes and menus as favorites
• Cooking, shopping, and nutrition tips

The bad

• No shopping list
• No search feature
• Can't really share recipes. Can only share a teaser and link to the app.
• Doesn't support iPhone 5's larger screen

The bottom line

Cooking Light is a great cooking app for the health-conscious chef with beautiful photography, easy-to-follow recipes, and an awesome menu builder. If only it included a shopping list, search feature, and support for the iPhone 5, Cooking Light would be nearly perfect.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) ? President Barack Obama pushed for a higher minimum wage at a re-opened manufacturing plant Wednesday because he says Americans who work full time should not be in poverty.

The president followed up his call for the increase from $7.25 to $9 an hour in Tuesday night's State of the Union address with a trip to North Carolina, attempting to reach voters outside Washington on the plan

Canadian-based Linamar Corp. opened a former Volvo plant in Asheville that had gone dark and rehired some of its workers. Obama touted it as an example of America attracting jobs from overseas.

He says the key to reviving America's economy is to bring more jobs to the United States, give Americans the skills they need to perform them and provide those workers with a decent living.

"There's no magic bullet here, it's just some common sense stuff. People still have to work hard," he said, arguing that just a few structural changes could have an outsize impact. He said he needs Congress to help pass his initiatives.

"It's not a Democratic thing or a Republican thing," Obama said. "Our job as Americans is to restore that basic bargain that says if you work hard, if you meet your responsibilities, you can get ahead."

"If you work full time, you shouldn't be in poverty," Obama said to applause.

But House Speaker John Boehner was not warm to the plan.

"When you raise the price of employment, guess what happens? You get less of it," he told reporters Wednesday morning. "At a time when the American people are still asking the question, where are the jobs? why would we want to make it harder for small employers to hire people?"

Linamar produces heavy-duty engine and driveline components. The company has hired 160 workers at the Asheville plant and will hire 40 more by the end of the year, Obama said.

The sleeves rolled up on his white dress shirt, Obama stopped to chat with workers at the plant, patting them on the back as he inspected the equipment. He signed some type of large red toolbox and later posed for photos with what appeared to be a few managers from the plant.

His remarks had all the trapping of a campaign-style rally ? the barricades, the platforms and professional lights, and patriotic music drowning out the cheers of a few hundred people who gathered inside the factory to hear him speak.

Obama will make stops in Atlanta on Thursday and Chicago on Friday to continue pushing his second-term agenda outlined in the State of the Union address.

In his bid to boost manufacturing, Obama is launching three "manufacturing innovation institutes" ? partnerships among the private sector, the federal government and colleges "to develop and build manufacturing technologies and capabilities that will help U.S.-based manufacturers and workers create good jobs," according to a White House fact sheet. He is asking Congress to create 15 more institutes.

The proposal is a central element of Obama's plan to spur manufacturing, which has been a bright spot in the U.S. economy. Manufacturing expanded at a much faster pace in January compared with December.

The White House outlined other steps the administration says it will take to continue improvements in manufacturing, which it says added 500,000 jobs the last three years after shedding jobs for more than 10 years.

Among the steps:

?Reforming the business tax code to end tax breaks to ship jobs overseas.

?Expanding a program to help governors and mayors bring in business investment from around the world.

?Strengthening enforcement of trade laws and taking new steps to open markets in Europe and Asia.

According to the news website sudinfo.be, the victims were a 68-year-old grandfather, his 39-year-old daughter-in-law, and his three grandchildren, aged 7, 6 and 3. The victims were from Brussels, and the children's father was on his way to the airport, news reports said.

Customers Want Local by Entrepreneur/Author ... - Watch.tv Blog - tv

Small Business Entrepreneur, Becky McCray

Small Business Entrepreneur, Becky McCray

Ninety-seven percent of Internet users search for local businesses online,?BIA/Kelsey?s User View Wave?found as early as 2010.?According to the?American Express OPEN Small Business Saturday Consumer Pulse, nearly 3 quarters of consumers (73%) consciously shop at small businesses in their community because they do not want them to go away.

That?s Good News for Local Businesses

If your business sells primarily to local walk-in customers, you fit right into the traditional idea of local. Customers are looking for you online, so your focus for content is on the people, businesses, and features that are right around you.

What if You?re Not ?Local?? Other Ways to ?Be Local?

If your business sells online or to customers from all over, it can be tougher to figure out how to be ?local? and how to connect with all those local searches. But there are other ways to do it.

Local can also be ?temporary local.??If your business is based on tourism, you have temporary locals. People visit your community because they love something about it. They are temporary locals with a stake in your community. When you use video to show off your destination community, you?re strengthening your ties with potential visitors, and you?re connecting with their local searches.

Local can also be ?someone else?s local.??By showing your connections to your local community, you?re also establishing that you are a small business worth supporting, no matter where your customers are. Marketer Jane Quigley told me that when she shops online, she looks for local independent businesses to support, even if they are local to somewhere else. When I was looking for chocolate covered pecans, I chose to buy from Nuts.com because their website showcased their local ties in their New Jersey community. They weren?t local to me, but they were someone else?s local, and that earned my business. All the video you create to show your local connections increases your appeal to distant customers, too.

Local can also be ?a member of our community online.??Take the WordPress community, for example. The developers, designers, and consultants that work with the WordPress framework are all part of a network and online community. There are also offline community events like WordCamps and developer events. To show that your business is ?local? to the online community, use video to show your participation at in-person events, your connections to community leaders, and your support of community causes. You can also go further by using all the local video techniques here.

Video Goes Local

Now that you?re thinking about your own local ties, how can you use video to show them??Jason Falls has taught you how to use your video for SEO, so you know how to optimize. Be sure you?re including local keywords and phrases:

• your town name and state
• local landmarks
• your neighborhood
• your region
• local geographic names like counties, townships, or parishes

You never know which geographic names people have associated with you, so it?s best to include more than just your town name. And phrases like ?tri-state area? are used so many different places, it pays to also explain them. Don?t assume viewers know which state you?re in. Remember those ?someone else?s local? searches? Those potential new customers won?t know exactly where you are?until you tell them.

What to Show on Video for ?Local?

1. Location, Location, Location

Start with your store, or office, or what ever physical location you work from. Give your customers a tour, a peek out your window, or an inside view into where you do the magic. Even if your work is location independent, you can feature ?today?s workplace? in your videos.

Extend that to field locations. Show where your product is used, or where your services make a difference. Show demonstrations from the field. I promise you a product video is always more interesting when it?s a product demo from the field, rather than a ?talking head? video from behind a desk about the same product.

2. Supply Chain

Your products are made from other ingredients or supplies. Show where they come from. Show the local businesses or suppliers you buy from. The easiest way for you to picture this is following food products from the farm to someone?s plate. You can use this idea with any business. In fact, you don?t have to be a product-based business. If you provide services, other local services support you. Show them. Where do they come from? Who are the people involved?

OK, now go the other way along the supply chain. Who buys from you? What local businesses or people rely on you? Make videos featuring them and what difference they make locally.

3. Join the Community

You?re part of some local community, and you want to show that.?The best way to connect to locals is to feature locals. Look to local?causes, activities, and events. You?re already participating in events, so take your video camera with you.

Show some local history. Capture some local wildlife. Share what makes you proud of your community.

What about your people? How are your people part of the local community? Do they volunteer, act in plays, perform at renaissance fairs? Get video!

Are you supporting a local cause? Explain why. Share how they make a difference. Get out and show how they do it. Invite them to be part of your videos. Let them do guest videos on your channel.

Why Video Matters Most in Local

At its core, being local is all about people. That?s why video matters so much to create local ties. Flat words on a screen can only convey so much. But moving images make you much more real to people. And when you?re building local ties, being real is perhaps the most critical element. If you take any of these local ideas, capture some simple honest video about them, and share them with your local community, you?ll build a much stronger connection and ultimately build your business.
